Art and Architecture in Thamesmead

A walking tour climbs from Abbey Wood up to Lesnes Abbey, then cuts through Thamesmead's raw concrete estates, past Southmere Lake to the Lakeside Centre. Built in the 1960s as London's self-styled Town of Tomorrow, the area still divides opinion long after the cranes were gone.
