Ceremonial opening of the Temple Bar gates

A few times a year the wooden gates at Temple Bar, the old boundary marker between the City of London and Westminster, are ceremonially closed and reopened by the Company of Pikemen and Musketeers. It's a genuinely odd bit of civic theatre revived only in the last year or so, over in half an hour, all brass buttons and pikes that most passers-by simply walk past.
