Look Up This Summer

A new route through Inigo Jones's only surviving Whitehall building lets visitors get close to Rubens' ceiling, painted for a king executed metres from where it now hangs. The connection between the art overhead and the axe below isn't subtle, and the building doesn't try to soften it. Quiet, strange, and worth the detour.
